Make Email Pay!

When you attract someone to your website, you may only get a single chance to present them with an offer and convert them into a buyer. But if you have their email address, you get an on-going opportunity to convert them to a buyer – offer by offer. This is why email marketing can be such an attractive way to make money.
Any email marketing business starts with a list of email addresses. Lists can come from a variety of sources – you can rent or trade email addresses – but the best lists are of email addresses that you have collected and categorized yourself. Collect email addresses by providing offers on your website that require an email address (e.g. a newsletter) or that you collect via conventional means (advertising reply cards, etc.). Remember: a good email list is like gold – it can pay you again and again in the future.
Once your have a list, plan on developing a set of offers that might appeal to its members. If you’re unsure of what type of products of services they may respond to, then test your list by taking a small portion of it and mailing an offer and see what results you get. Compare those test results with the results from other products that you’ve tested against other parts of the list. Eventually, you’ll get an idea of what works and what doesn’t with the list you have.
Then, plan your email marketing campaign. Make sure that you put an offer against your list at a regular interval but, depending on the type of consumers in the list, don’t overdo it! Throw too much email at it and the list will become “fatigued” and unresponsive. But the right list, presented with quality products, and mailed on a regular basis will provide you a steady stream of revenue!
